Starting in 2014 the maple leaf now has a new security feature on each 1 oz silver and gold coins. Each coin from 2014 on now bears a visual Security Feature. Intricately micro-engraved design produced by the Mint’s innovative use of laser technology confirms the authenticity of the coin.
The obverse side bears the image of Great Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in profile, and bears the inscription of her name, the coin’s face value and the year of minting. The reverse side bears the image of the Maple Leaf, Canada’s National Symbol.
